Not all street rods are powered by small-block Chevy V8 engines, as witnessed by the 292-cu.in. inline-six in this ’39 Chevy. The seller says this modified engine has the “lump port” cylinder head, 10.5:1 pistons, a light camshaft, hydraulic lifters, roller rocker arms, high-flow cast-iron headers, and a 2½-inch exhaust system with side exit. He says the engine produced 300 horsepower on the dyno, but it’s still very reliable. The seller says cold starts require several pumps of the gas and less when the engine is warm. No smoke is evident at starting and the only leak is a small one at the rear of the valve cover, per the seller. The transmission is a GM 700-R4 four-speed automatic that was built by Bowtie Overdrives, and the seller says it works great. The rear end has a positraction differential and came from a ’96 Ford Explorer. It's equipped with 3.73:1 gears and disc brakes.
