1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible 255 CI Engine

3 hits ID #8023

This 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible underwent a frame-off restoration. Retaining its original, rust-free sheet metal, the car was a perfect candidate. Powered by a rebuilt and balanced 1953 Mercury 255 CI flathead V-8 engine, NOS parts were used in the rebuild along with Offenhauser heads and dual Stromberg 97 carburetors. A 3-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels, and dual exhaust lends a wonderful burble that only a flathead can make. A 12-volt electrical system helps with reliability and serviceability. The red interior presents wonderfully, the gold-tone dashboard looking fabulously Art Deco, and a new handmade, black canvas convertible top locks out the elements. The original 1940 fender skirts are a rare sight and lend the Ford a high level of style, giving it an upscale, expensive look.
