Beneath the hood was an engine with which many service members were acquainted: the 134/63 HP Go Devil 4-cylinder engine, which here is down in a detailed engine compartment. This is backed by a 3-speed transmission with optional overdrive. The Jeepster was a standard 2-wheel drive release, and the mechanicals on this car are refreshed. The body paint is accented by the horizonal grille ribs and deluxe bumpers, and all chrome and stainless on this car are restored, including the step-ups used to allow rear-seat passengers to climb in over the rear wheelhouses.

Inside is a new interior with a restored dash and gauges, the factory underdash heater and defroster, a white steering wheel and offset-center front seat. There are steel wheels wearing stylized W-center covers and equipped with gorgeous Firestone wide whitewall tires, including the rear-mounted spare. At the end of the 1950 model year, Willys chose to exit this market segment, and the brief run of the Jeepster came to a quiet end. This final-year example’s excellent reconditioning speaks for itself and this Jeepster should give its next owner an opportunity to present a special postwar package with pride.
