The 1954 Corvettes still had the iconic recessed headlights with wire screens, an air-scoop-like chrome grille, jet-age-inspired rear fenders with bullet-shaped tail lights, and true roadster styling with side curtains instead of roll-up windows in the doors. Note that those doors are still smooth; exterior door handles wouldn’t appear for another couple of years. Close inspection, though, reveals the several small differences that set the 1954 models apart from those first-year cars. Most obvious are the longer tips on the exhaust pipes exiting through the rear body panel. Under the hood, a pair of round air cleaners replaced the three bullet-shaped components used previously on the 235 CI Blue Flame Six’s triple sidedraft carburetors.
