1958 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Panama Yellow/White

9 hits ID #8031

The top RPO 579D 283 CI powerplant developing a factory-rated 290 HP, including this collector-grade example which retains its all-important matching-numbers engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission with iconic “cue ball” shift knob. Visually striking in Panama Yellow with white side coves and correct charcoal upholstery, this top-specification Corvette is complemented by both a new black convertible top and body-color removable auxiliary hard top. It was obviously built for serious duty with the deletion of both the radio and heater, and with its top-of-the-line RPO 579D engine, the tachometer reads to 8,000 RPM with a 6,500 RPM redline. Steel wheels mounting full-size bright wheel covers are surrounded by a set of period-style wide whitewall tires for a great look. The 1958 models marked an early highwater mark in the Corvette’s rapid evolution, and with its top-level powertrain and wonderful presentation, this fuel-injected example is a compelling and unqualified “blue chip” collectible.
