Powered by that top-of-the-line 409/409 HP V-8 mill, this was the first model year the W-head big-block was rated at 1 HP per CI. That came about from refinements such as big-valve heads, a dual-quad intake manifold hosting a pair of inline Carter AFB D-series carburetors, 11.0:1 pistons on a forged crank and more aggressive solid-lifter valve timing. The engine was followed by the BorgWarner T10 4-speed transmission, and the car features a Positraction rear axle as well. A new dual exhaust system has been installed. Like many race-oriented cars, this car came with manual steering and brakes and also has the radio, heater and clock deletes.
