The 1965 Ford Mustang combined clean style, V-8 power and low-priced value. Available as a convertible, coupe or fastback, the latter was inspired by European sports cars of the day and made the inside roomier and more practical, with three times the luggage space as the hardtop.
The GT equipment group brought the hotter 289 CI small-block V-8 with a 4-barrel carburetor, dual exhaust and a special handling package with beefed-up suspension and front disc brakes. This A-code Mustang was restored by Gene Hetland 25 years ago. During the restoration, Hetland added white Shelby stripes, an engine dress-up kit and sourced many NOS parts, such as the steering wheel, dash pad and exhaust. Installing stainless-steel brake and gas lines helped to create a safer driving experience. Equipped with the standard leather-grained vinyl bucket seats, it has an automatic transmission, AM radio, center console with floor shifter and a sporty three-point steering wheel. The Mustang rides from 1965 into today and the future on styled steel wheels and Goodyear Eagle ST tires.
