Likewise, the engine compartment is nicely detailed with the correct decals, hose clamps and tags. The convertible also has its original brightwork and wheels with the correct NOS wheel covers and reproduction 6.95x14 U.S. Royal whitewall tires. Inside, the white interior has been restored with new upholstery, gauges and wiring harness. Based on Ford’s 289 CI small-block, the K-code engine is known for its high-revving capability. Differences from the standard 289 include a solid-lifter cam, unique cylinder heads with screw-in rocker arm studs, heavy-duty valve springs, 595 CFM 4100 4-barrel, dual-point distributor and free-flowing exhaust manifolds. Externally, the 289 High Performance came with chrome valve covers and an open-element air cleaner. Handsomely dressed in its rich color combination and boasting the original HiPo mill, this very rare, early production K-code convertible is an elite steed.
