This Amphicar is one of only about 800 built between 1961 and 1968, with roughly 600 imported into the United States. Powered by the 43 HP Triumph Herald 1147cc inline 4-cylinder engine fed by a downdraft carburetor, a unique Herms Model two-part transmission specific to the Amphicar features a 4-speed manual gearbox for the rear wheels when on land. A Lucas 12-Volt electrical system powers the accessories and lights, including a Motorola transistor radio.
Featuring a manually folding top, passengers can enjoy cruising in shade or sun. Rolling on blackwall tires with red painted wheels and bright center caps, the wheels match the red accent stripes on the white body. Presenting very nicely, the Amphicar has a wonderfully well sorted interior and shows little signs of wear or damage, an aura that spills over onto the exterior as well. The white paint shines brightly and reflects nicely, the brightwork likewise, and the engine compartment and groovy propellers also show very well.
