1969 Chevrolet El Camino high option car

All All 2 hits ID #8158

1969 ElCamino high option car with a host of modern upgrades. This SS 396 no longer has its 396 big block. It was removed sometime in the past and the more recent owner installed a 7.4 liter 454 rebuilt and painted to match the orange/redchevy motor paint. The motor was built for driveability and torque. The goal was achieved along with FAST E-Z fuel injection and an electronic ignition. The transmission is a built GM 700 R4 with an HD shell, Alto clutches, Colene steels, Transgo shift kit, .500 boost valve and corvette servos. the 12 bolt rear was filled with a 3:73 rear end ratio with enables a quick start, firm shifts and a great cruising rpm. It has cold Harrison factory air conditioning, Saginaw power steering, power disc brakes, power windows, bucket seats and a horseshoe shiftier calibrated to match the four speed automatic transmission. The Hugger orange paint is complemented with painted on hood and side stripes that have very little paint edge between the colors. There is no documentation to prove this was a true SS 396 just the infamous "L" on the cowl tag and the fact it was built in the Kansas City plant.
The 396 is gone along with the three speed transmission so the numbers matching crowd will leave this one alone. It his however true to form by looking under the hood a seeing the chrome valve covers and air cleaner with the hidden EFI system. Plus the era correct Frigidaire compressor and cast iron manifolds. The twin cooling fan radiator keeps the big mill cool and adds driving pleasure not listening to the fan clutch. The flowmaster exhaust with H pipe provides the great muscle car sound that just makes you smile. The factory rally wheels are a nice touch along with a fresh set of BFG radials in staggered formation. This ElCamino has been drived 4000 miles since the work was done and I would consider it a well sorted driver/show car. It rides on the road real nice with really excellent a/c blowing in your face, most aftermarket vintage air kits really don't work well in the extreme heat. This factory harrison a/c really works excellent.
The body and frame are very solid
