This ‘71 Mach 1 is the one and only 4-speed Ram Air Cobra Jet, painted Dark Metallic Green with white bucket seats and equipped with the new-for-1971 power window option. Sold new at John North Ford in Emporia, Kansas, the car is equipped with the J-code 429 CI Ram Air Cobra Jet V-8 mated to a close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission, which sends power to the 3.25 Traction-Lok differential. All Mach 1s came with a “competition suspension package,” which consisted of heavy-duty springs and shock absorbers, plus a rear stabilizer bar and staggered shocks. This Mach 1 is also equipped with a variable ratio (15.7 to 1) power-steering unit and power brakes with front discs.
Inside, dual white bucket seats and a rear bench dominate the interior, with the black high-rise center console splitting the buckets. SelectAire air conditioning and power side window options were ticked on the order form as well as the Sports Interior, tilt steering column, intermittent windshield wipers, an AM/FM radio, tinted glass and deluxe seat belts.
