1972 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 396 CI V-8 engine

21 hits ID #8267

Under the custom-steel ducted hood is a built 396 CI V-8 equipped with a K&N air cleaner, Demon 4-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Performer aluminum heads and intake, MSD ignition, Hooker headers and Flowmaster mandrel-bent dual exhaust to meet and exceed the original 300 HP factory number. March serpentine-belt pulleys turn a Powermaster alternator and Edelbrock water pump so the electric Barry Grant fuel pump can draw gasoline from the fuel cell and the Be Cool aluminum radiator can keep performance cool. The big-block Chevrolet mill is backed by a Turbo 400 automatic transmission with TCI torque converter and shift kit that channels power through a Positraction 12-bolt rear axle with Strange Engineering internals and LPW support cover. Mirror-finish black paint with special performance-package gold stripes join a blackout grille, functional front chin and rear spoilers, dual sport mirrors and Z28 emblems. Momo bucket seats with Simpson four-point racing harnesses and six-point roll cage meet a Grant steering wheel, Auto Meter Pro-Comp gauges, Hurst Quarter Stick shifter and CD stereo in the sport modified black interior. Global West front control arms and anti-sway bars, subframe connectors and CalTracs rear traction bars work together with four-wheel QA1 shock absorbers and Flaming River quick-ratio power steering for big-block road control. Wilwood 4-wheel power disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors and black finish multi-piston calipers bring the Z28 back down from speed.
