1972 Toyota FJ40 3.9-liter OHV

According to the seller, the body (including the engine compartment) was stripped and repainted Desert Beige in 2010. The finish is said to be in good shape, with no nicks, chips or dents, but a little noted surface rust under the front corners of the doors. All the glass is reportedly original and in good condition, including the roll-up windows in the hardtop. Seals were not reinstalled in the hardtop, however. The rest of the truck’s rubber is said to be in good shape, with no leaks. As for the exterior lighting, the backup lamp does not work, but the rest of the lighting reportedly works normally. Additionally, the included soft top is said to function “perfectly,” along with the soft doors and zip-out windows.

According to the seller, this FJ40 is powered by its original F-Series 3.9-liter inline-six engine, which was rebuilt during the restoration. It is said to start well with a manual choke, although the engine can be “cold-blooded” if it hasn’t been started for a while. The seller says there is no smoke and no leaks from the engine or the three-speed manual transmission. It reportedly shifts well, but is unsynchronized, so rev-matching is important for smooth downshifts. There are no reported issues with the transfer case.
